Glassman leitet Bush-Think-Tank

Der vom ehemaligen US-Präsidenten George W. Bush gegründete Think Tanks nimmt langsam Form an. In einer Pressemitteilung verkündete die George W. Bush Foundation nun, dass das Institut von James K. Glassmann geleitet werden soll.

Glassman war zuletzt Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy, übte diesen Posten jedoch nur für wenige Monate gegen Ende der Amtszeit von Präsident Bush aus. In der Public-Diplomacy-Community machte sich Glassman einen Namen, weil er das Profil von sozialen Netzwerken als Instrument der Public Diplomacy schärfte. Zudem arbeitete Glassman für 12 Jahre am American Enterprise Institute sowie als Journalist.

Auf seiner eigenen Webseite schreibt Glassman über seinen neuen Posten:

My job is to work with President and Mrs. Bush to decide on a limited number of areas of focus, to hire about two dozen scholars and fellows, and to develop partnerships. Those partnerships – with NGOs, universities, foundations, businesses, and governments – are critical because we are conceiving the Bush Institute as an “action-oriented think tank.” That is, our main task will be to conduct objective, world-class research that can then be put to practical use in making a better world.
